The Argentine peso is divided into one hundred centavos. Coins are in denominations of AR$5, 2 and 1, and in 50, 25, 10, 5 and 1 centavos. You may get handed parallel currency notes, such as Lecops; these may be phased out, so check the latest situation to avoid being lumbered with worthless paper.
US Dollars are accepted in some hotels and tourist centres.

Foreign currencies can be exchanged in banks and authorised cambios , which are available in all major cities.
